
Punk author Raki Singh was born in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland. Despite forever being known as a Newfie; he grew up and played in the East End of Toronto.
Raki Singh’s writing career began at the tender age of 9 when he submitted a poem to the Toronto Sun Comics about the Moon. His next major written work occurred at age 16, when he penned a script for a teen movie entitled: “Teenage Politics” which was performed by onstage by Northern Collegiate Institute Students. The stage production was deemed inappropriate for anyone under the age of 17.
He studied at Queen’s University to earn his Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in English. He earned his Bachelor of Education at Lakehead University. Raki Singh has been published in various Queen’s University publications including: CultureShock!, Ultraviolet, and the Queen’s Campus Review. His writing also appeared in Lake Effect 2 published by Artful Codger Press, a collection that was edited by novelist Carolyn Smart.
In 2005, he began writing professionally for thesoko.com and is hard at work on his first novel. He is the creator and founder of sites like ControllerPunch.com, SegaShiro.com, and PunkToronto.com – all of which contain his editing, writing, and video editing.
