While running around doing job interviews – I saw two “punk” teens were sitting cross-legged outside of a McDonalds begging for food (one girl and  sleepy looking guy – no more than 16).

I always hear that people would be willing to help the homeless if they wanted food instead of money.

Except no one was willing to help them…well, not no one, just not anyone who wasn’t me. Maybe it takes knowing what it is to be hungry to reach out. Read the rest of this entry »

Ever since hearing “Bedroom Windows” on Short Music for Short People, I have nothing but admiration and adoration for the artists that made up Enemy You.

It is the purest sampling of punk rock you can get. It is all harmony, melody, heart and speed. The band is one of my all-time favorites and it often gives me the inspiration to write.

Furthermore, they write songs about things that matter. Songs about: life, poverty, politics, hope, individuality and love. They only released 2 albums and one E.P. before splitting up and working with other bands. Definitely worth checking out.

It’s been a while since I’ve updated but it hasn’t been for a lack of work. A huge game database for Segashiro.com is almost complete. I wrote a stirring piece of the novel about EAT MORE bars. And well, I got some updates for this site coming soon. So, why have I been so down recently? I dunno, maybe it’s impatience to finally get to the next stage of life. Not just for me but all my friends and loved ones. It’s coming soon…I hope.

In the meantime, this song “Get a Life” by No Motiv has been on constant rotation in my CD Player. They are Southern California Punk Band that has been independant for the last 8 years. Some might call it sadcore, but I think it is actually a very hopeful song.

Donovan Woods was a Canadian Folk Artist I stumbled across during one of my (mis)adventures. Canadian artists need to stick up for each other and promote each others talents. It’s the only way to create a scene. I only chatted with Donovan Woods for a few moments after his Sunday Night Live Gig, but he knows how to lay down a truly sweet set and is a nice guy.
Now, everyone knows that if you slowed down punk rock you’d get folk music…and this is a great song. Classic. Anyway, I am proud to say that I truly think Donovan Woods has the skills to become Canada’s Paul Simon, check him out: Woods.
